Akemi Mono is my personal graphic tee business.
I’ve designed or creatively directed the logo, website, tee graphics, and printed collateral. Our tees feature graphic imagery that fuses traditional Japanese tattoo art, Vintage Americana illustrations, and local island fashion.
My goal was to create a versatile main logo that I could use whether it be for the website, a profile picture, or the front of our graphic T-shirts. I decided on a wordmark logo, using a vintage, Americana typeface. To add a unique touch, I pulled the descenders of the “A” and “I” down, enclosing the “mono”.
